Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
